Hi I'm Emily, the founder of OT FOCUS.

I qualified from The University of Derby with a BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy in 2003 after finally finding the career for me!

I love the collaboration between science and creativity that occupational therapy offers, and the multi-faceted assessments and treatments that I can devise, provide and promote with each individual patient.

As a dual-trained profession we have skills to treat within both the physical and mental health sectors. The career route I have followed since qualification has allowed me to explore both of these aspects of care.

My main experience and expertise lies within the musculoskeletal and trauma setting having worked the majority of my career within a large teaching hospital trust, with the last 12 years working in an Advanced Practitioner role.

I have treated a wide variety of patients who have sustained life changing injuries or surgeries and have helped them rebuild their lives with great success.

I have specialist experience in the treatment and rehabilitation of burns, plastics, orthopaedics, major trauma, hand and upper limb injury, amputees and sarcoma patients.

I have a wealth of experience engaging with and treating many complex patients who require a creative element to their therapy, and I strive (and love) to achieve goals with patients that may have been deemed impossible.

When I am not working I am usually busy looking after my 3 lively boys!

I am also co-director of Therapy Focus CIC, a non-for-profit company promoting accessible and inclusive exercise and activities. I am loving my current Friday mornings spent with a small group of clients, providing a social and physical session to promote health and well-being for those who cannot access mainstream groups!!
